Durbar Nepali & Indian Cuisine Expands to Gahanna with New Location

GAHANNA, Ohio — Durbar Nepali & Indian Cuisine, a restaurant known for serving authentic Nepali and Indian flavors, is expanding its presence in Central Ohio with a new location in Gahanna, Ohio.

The restaurant’s new location at 64 Granville Street, Gahanna, will hold its soft opening on Sunday, October 4. The Gahanna restaurant is Durbar’s second location. Its original restaurant has been serving customers in Reynoldsburg since 2020.

According to co-owner Himod Sharma, the new location will offer many of the same traditional Nepali and Indian dishes that have become popular at the Reynoldsburg restaurant.

The menu will feature a variety of favorites, including momo, sekuwa, biryani, tikka masala, naan, curries and other Nepali and Indian specialties.

Co-owner Sagar Dhital said the growing community in Gahanna, along with the support and interest the restaurant has already received from local residents, encouraged the owners to expand.

“What inspired us to open in Gahanna is the growing community and the support we have already received from people in the area,” Dhital said. “We felt it would be a great place to expand Durbar and bring something different to the community.”

The new Gahanna location offers a larger dining space, outdoor patio seating and a comfortable atmosphere for families and groups, according to the owners.

The restaurant has also incorporated Nepali art and cultural elements into the design and decor

of the new location. Sharma said the goal is to give customers more than just a meal.

“When people come to our Gahanna location, we want them to enjoy not only the food but also the atmosphere,” Sharma said. “We want our guests to feel as though they are experiencing a restaurant in Nepal while they are dining here.”

He emphasized that hospitality is an important part of Nepali culture and will remain central to the restaurant’s approach.

“Our customers are our guests, and welcoming guests is an important part of our culture,” Sharma said. “At our new location, we want every customer to experience the Nepali spirit through our food, quality and hospitality.”

The owners said they plan to maintain the taste and quality that customers have come to expect from the Reynoldsburg location, while creating a distinct atmosphere and dining experience in Gahanna.

The expansion marks another step in Durbar Nepali & Indian Cuisine’s effort to introduce Nepali and Himalayan cuisine to a wider audience across Ohio.

With its new Gahanna location, Durbar hopes to create a place where customers can enjoy traditional Nepali and Indian food while experiencing the warmth and hospitality of Nepali culture.
